TODAY’S POEM
THE HOLIDAYS
Sunshine scampers in the rain,
whose sounds
like music fill the air, while leaves
in mounds
of gold declare, the
tapestry of fall.
And far from where I stand, my
thoughts are found.
I float as leaves upon a breeze.
I’m called
to time to come: When winter has
installed
itself and warmth comes not from fire,
but friends
and loved ones in a house enthralled.
The gathering of those I love,
that mends
the pain of bonds stretched thin, to
then attend
the souls, by longing eyes too long
unseen
and brings renewal to the best we
each intend.
It’s there my thoughts go now, as
I have been
too long in waiting for that time
serene.
That precious peace that stays
when all are gone
and lives within, ‘til
next we can convene.
