TODAY’S POEM
IN HIS EYES
Eyes that speak to me of days long
gone
yet in their present state appear
forlorn.
Within their depth his parents
live and breathe
their visage in his face, through
time reborn
In age he's traded now for reverie
of times made pleasant by their
memory.
He does not hear the future
calling him
or retain the meaning of "To
Be."
Adrift upon his sea of wish and
whim
occasionally attuned when seeing
kin
a thread as fine a bond as
spider's web
tethers who he used to be within.
In his eyes, a glimpse of soulful
truth
of one we knew, but now returned
to youth
