Eerie, in their deathly dance, surreal
in flowing shrouds. Monoliths, their lives repealed
bled black high in the clouds. Then tombs that burned
awaited turns, to carry their souls to field.
In time they rained their grace on earth, returned
from whence they came. Back to dust, unearned
unjust, straight down in final flame. Amassed
in hell, interred they fell; grief for all concerned.
Gone from view but not from sight, they passed
from life to after. Their memories will last
beyond this moment of disaster. Tested
we remain intact, in a world that is recast
Belief refused no rules to use, we are in deep distress;
Empty skies, fill our eyes and will until our rest.

TO SEE THIS DAY
That I should live to see this day,
when skies rain dead and death.
Not believe what fills my eyes
and takes away my breath.
That I should view those souls withdrawn
long before their time
and helpless be, as I did see
and wish that I was blind.
That I should hear what I should not;
To know we now are one.
And be the voice for silenced tongues
Whose time on earth is done.
That I should still see what is gone,
the monoliths once proud
The hosts of lives, housed in the skies
become as dust from clouds.
Tells me they are speaking now,
Imploring in their pain.
Remove this horror from the world
That they not die in vain.
Bringing me a burdened heart
And test of my resolve.
Their torch is mine to carry on:
A better world evolve.

TOMORROWS
Day After day we watch them dig
and find no words to say.
On TV screens we see the scenes
that time won’t take away.
And in that place of smoke and dust
We’re all interred together.
Souls in flight and those that grieve,
at the doorway to forever.
Thrust into eternity
a part of us is gone.
To consecrate their memory
we now must carry on
We raise our eyes to azure skies
and feel the warming sun
Though hearts are cold and young are old
we pray His will be done.
We bow our heads hold on to threads
of lives that once we knew.
Ask the questions without answers
search within ourselves for truths
Light a candle in the darkness
do whatever that we can.
See a world alight with purpose
know we’re players in His plan
Say a prayer for those before us and
one for those who’ll fall
We must stand together surely
as we heed this clarion call.
We must fight for our tomorrows if
we want them to be free.
There is no one left to stand up so,
it’s up to you and me
